The Tata Ultra E.9 is an electric ICV goods carrier built on the Ultra platform, engineered for agile city transportation and sustainable logistics. Offered as a single 3920/Container variant, it pairs a 4,000 kg payload with a 17 ft container body for e-commerce, courier, FMCG and cold-chain duty. There is no public ex-showroom price — the Ultra E.9 is sold through dealer enquiry, and it is already available in the Indian market.

Tata Ultra E.9 battery and range

Powered by a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) pack offered in 96 kWh and 147 kWh capacities, the Ultra E.9 claims a range of up to 230 km on a full charge. Real-world range will depend on load, route and driving style, but the LFP chemistry prioritises thermal safety and lifecycle for commercial duty.

Performance and payload

A 250 kW PMSM traction motor delivers 950 Nm peak torque (450 Nm continuous), driving through an E-axle with automatic shift for clutchless operation. Gross vehicle weight is 9,300 kg with a 4,000 kg payload and a 23% gradeability, so the truck stays productive on hilly city routes and under full load.

Charging

DC fast charging via a CCS2 connector takes roughly 1.5-2 hours for a full charge, allowing multi-shift operation with charging planned around the working day. There is no standard AC home-charging setup on a vehicle of this class — the Ultra E.9 is charged through fleet or depot infrastructure.

Dimensions and cabin

The wheelbase is 3920 mm with 183 mm of ground clearance and a turning radius of 15.4 m. The Day Cabin seats the driver plus two and comes with factory AC, tilt and telescopic steering, a height-adjustable driver seat and a driver information display.

Safety and fleet

Pneumatic drum brakes, parabolic leaf suspension front and rear, seat belts and fog lights are standard, with telematics via Fleet Edge for fleet management. The 2026-generation Ultra cabin meets the ECE R29 03 crash standard; ABS is not offered.

Who should buy it

The Ultra E.9 is built for fleet operators running last-mile city distribution in e-commerce, courier, FMCG, white goods and pharma — where a 4,000 kg payload and up to 230 km of range fit a daily urban loop with a mid-day top-up. It is less suited to long intercity runs, and buyers should confirm route range, charging infrastructure and the no-ABS trade-off with a Tata dealer before committing.
