This notice explains what personal information EVSoch collects when you use evsoch.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have over it. It applies to visitors browsing the site, people who submit an enquiry or feedback form, and email subscribers. It does not cover EVSoch's internal admin systems, which are used only by our staff.
1. Introduction and scope
EVSoch ("EVSoch", "we", "us") operates an electric vehicle discovery platform for the Indian market, covering electric cars, bikes, scooters, and commercial vehicles. This notice is written to be read by the people who actually use the site, not just lawyers — if anything here is unclear, the contact details in Section 15 will get you a straight answer.
2. Who we are
EVSoch is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice — the entity that decides why and how it is processed. Our site is built and operated from India, and Indian law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) governs how we handle your information.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us directly
- Enquiries about a vehicle. When you ask us to connect you with the best offers on a vehicle (or on our first-visit offer form), we collect your name and at least one way to reach you — a mobile number, an email address, or both. Whichever you don't provide is simply left blank.
- Vehicle feedback and ratings. If you rate or review a vehicle, we collect your rating, your comment, and — only if you choose to add them — your name and email address.
- Email subscription. If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address, optionally your name, and the topics you've told us you're interested in.
3.2 Location
To show you relevant pricing and availability, we ask your browser for a city-level location using its built-in geolocation feature. This is handled by your browser, not by us directly — you'll see your browser's own permission prompt, and you can decline it or change your city manually at any time from the location control in the header. If you don't grant permission, we fall back to a default city, and nothing is inferred about your precise location.
3.3 Browsing activity, once you've made an enquiry
If — and only if — you submit an enquiry through one of our offer forms, we keep a short, rolling record of the vehicles, blog posts, and pages you view afterwards in the same browser, and attach it to your enquiry so our team has useful context when they reach out. This never happens before you submit a form: browsing the site anonymously does not create or add to any record tied to your name or contact details.
3.4 Technical and security information
When you submit a form, our servers process your IP address and browser identifier briefly, to prevent abuse (for example, someone submitting the same form dozens of times a minute). This information is combined and one-way hashed before being stored — we do not keep a plain-text log of visitor IP addresses, and the hash cannot be reversed back into your address.
5. How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and share the offers or information you asked for.
- To show city-appropriate pricing, subsidies, and availability.
- To moderate and publish vehicle feedback and ratings.
- To send the email updates you've subscribed to, and nothing beyond that.
- To detect and prevent abuse of our forms (for example, automated spam submissions).
- To understand, in aggregate, which vehicles and pages are useful to visitors, so we can improve the site.
We do not use your personal information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it to data brokers or advertisers.
6. Legal basis for processing
We rely on your consent when you submit an enquiry, a feedback form, or an email subscription — each of those forms asks you to explicitly agree before anything is submitted. Location and browsing-activity cookies described in Section 4 support that same consented purpose. Where we process technical information to keep the site secure and working (Section 3.4), we rely on our legitimate interest in protecting the service, balanced against your right to privacy.
8. Data retention
- Enquiries and their attached browsing context are kept while they're active in our follow-up pipeline, and periodically reviewed for deletion once they're no longer needed.
- Email subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Once you unsubscribe, we retain only the minimum needed to honor that request (so we don't email you again), then delete or irreversibly anonymize the rest.
- Rejected or spam feedback, and abuse-prevention records, are deleted on a routine schedule.
- Hashed technical/security records (Section 3.4) are kept only for the short window needed to detect abuse patterns, then discarded.
9. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and as a matter of our own policy, you can ask us to:
- Confirm what personal information we hold about you, and access a copy of it.
- Correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information, subject to any legal retention requirements.
- Withdraw your consent at any time — this stops future processing but doesn't undo anything already done with your permission.
- Unsubscribe from email updates instantly, using the link in every email we send.
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity, as provided under the Act.
To exercise any of these, use the contact details in Section 15. We'll respond within a reasonable time, and may need to verify your identity first.
10. Children's privacy
EVSoch is intended for people old enough to buy or lease a vehicle, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
11. Security
We restrict access to personal information to the staff who need it to do their job, using role-based permissions on our internal systems. Form submissions are rate-limited to resist automated abuse, sensitive fields are validated before they ever reach our database, and our admin systems sit behind their own authentication layer, separate from the public site. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data with the same care we'd want for our own.
12. Where your data is processed
Our infrastructure providers (Section 7) may process and store data on servers located outside India. Where that happens, we rely on their contractual and technical safeguards to protect your information to a standard consistent with this notice, regardless of where it's processed.
13. Third-party links and embeds
Some pages link to vehicle brochures, dealer sites, or embed YouTube videos on our blog. Once you follow a link or interact with an embedded player, you're subject to that third party's own privacy practices — this notice covers only evsoch.com.
14. Changes to this notice
If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we'll update the date and version number at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back occasionally, especially before submitting a new enquiry or subscription.
15. Contact us
Questions about this notice, or requests relating to your personal information, can be sent to privacy@evsoch.com.
