The Propel 470 eTR - 4X2 is a 55-tonne gross combination weight all-electric tractor-trailer from Coimbatore-based Propel Industries, unveiled at bauma CONEXPO India 2024 and launched that December. Built for heavy-duty logistics and construction haulage, it couples a liquid-cooled 350 kW PMSM motor with 385, 480 or 550 kWh battery options and a clutchless 7-speed EMT driveline.

Battery, range and charging

Propel offers the 470 eTR with three lithium-ion pack sizes — 385 kWh, 480 kWh and 550 kWh — depending on the duty cycle, with up to 350 km of claimed range on a single charge. Fast charging keeps fleets moving: the 385 kWh pack charges from 0-100 per cent in about 70 minutes on a CCS2 DC charger, minimising turnaround at depots.

Performance and driveline

A heavy-duty liquid-cooled PMSM motor produces 350 kW (about 470 hp) and 2600 Nm of peak torque, with an 80 km/h top speed and 24 per cent gradeability. The clutchless 7-speed EMT and regenerative braking are tuned for smooth, efficient heavy haulage while cutting brake wear on loaded runs.

Cabin, safety and connectivity

The 4x2 tractor seats a driver plus two passengers in a crash-tested, tiltable sleeper cabin with AC and a 2-inch heavy-duty fifth wheel coupling for use with a suitable 3-axle trailer. Dual-line air brakes with ABS, EBS, ESC, Hill Start Aid and traction control handle safety, while telematics and IoT give operators live battery, route and fleet data.

Who should buy it

The 470 eTR is aimed at fleet operators running cement, container, coal, steel and e-commerce haulage who want zero-emission, low-downtime trucks. If your routes fit its claimed 350 km range and your depots can host CCS2 fast charging, the Propel offers a practical path to electrifying heavy-duty freight.
