The Switch Mobility IeV3 is a 1.25-tonne payload electric mini truck from the Ashok Leyland-backed Switch Mobility line-up, priced from Rs 12.32 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on a chassis-with-cabin layout with a deck body and a 2,510 mm wheelbase, it is aimed at intra-city goods movement, last-mile distribution and small business delivery fleets across India.
Range and charging
The IeV3 is powered by a 25.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supports a 300 V electrical system, delivering a claimed range of up to 140 km on a single charge. Full charging takes approximately 3-4 hours, which makes overnight depot charging the practical routine for daily city delivery routes rather than mid-shift top-ups.
Performance and payload
A permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) producing 40 kW and 190 Nm of torque drives the IeV3 to a top speed of 70 km/h with a gradeability of 22 per cent. It carries a rated payload of 1,250 kg on a gross vehicle weight of 2,590 kg and a kerb weight of 1,340 kg. The deck body offers a 2,645 mm loading length, 1,620 mm loading width and 440 mm loading height. The 4x2 truck rolls on 185 R14 LT 8 PR radial tyres with disc and drum brakes and ABS, with rigid front and rear suspension.
Who should buy it
The IeV3 suits small businesses, e-commerce delivery operators and intra-city distribution fleets moving up to 1.25 tonnes per trip on fixed daily routes where 140 km of range and overnight charging cover the day's work. Standard equipment includes electric power steering, a digital driver information display, hill hold, telematics and adjustable driver seat, keeping cab effort low for urban stop-and-go operation. With Switch Mobility's commercial vehicle backing, it competes against the Tata Ace EV and EKA K1.5 in the fast-growing electric mini truck segment.
