IPL Tech Rhino 5536e

The IPL Tech Rhino 5536e is India's first heavy-duty electric truck, a 55-tonne GVW goods carrier designed and manufactured in India by IPLTech Electric (now part of Montra Electric / the Murugappa Group). It is available in a single 3850/Electric variant and is positioned for long-haul freight, cement, steel, mining and port logistics.

Battery & Range

A 258 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack powers the Rhino 5536e, offering a claimed range of up to 185 km on a single charge under standard test conditions. It can be fully charged from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 1.5 hours using the IPLT 160 kW charger.

Performance

A permanent-magnet synchronous (PMSM) motor produces 360 Hp and 2400 Nm of torque, driving a 12-speed automatic (AMT) transmission through a 6x4 axle configuration. Top speed is 80 km/h with a gradeability of 28 percent.

Dimensions & Load Capacity

Measuring 8500 mm in length, 2500 mm in width and 3500 mm in height with a 3850 mm wheelbase and 285 mm ground clearance, the Rhino 5536e carries a payload of 29500 kg over a 55000 kg GVW. It is a 10-wheeler with 295/90 R20 radial tyres, a chassis-with-cabin configuration and a sleeper cabin seating driver plus two.

Safety & Comfort

Braking is handled by hydraulic drum brakes with ABS, with a 7T heavy-duty front axle and 21T SRT tandem rear axle riding on parabolic leaf and heavy-duty bogie suspension. The cabin adds power steering, a 4-way adjustable driver seat and a driver information display for long-haul comfort.
