EKA 2.5T

The EKA 2.5T is an all-electric small commercial truck from EKA Mobility, the Pune-based electric commercial vehicle arm of Pinnacle Industries. It is a 4-wheel, 2.51-tonne GVW goods carrier built on a ladder-frame chassis with a box body, and is aimed squarely at intra-city distribution, e-commerce last-mile deliveries and small business goods movement. EKA sells the 2.5T on enquiry rather than a fixed ex-showroom price, so buyers should contact an EKA dealer for the current quotation in their city.

Range and charging

A 32 kWh Lithium Ferrous Phosphate (LFP) battery pack delivers a claimed range of 180 km on a full charge and runs on a 307 V operating system. Charging is single-phase AC only through the supplied wall-mounted charger, and a full charge takes about 4 hours. That works well for a one-shift delivery truck that parks overnight, but the 2.5T is not set up for rapid DC top-ups mid-shift.

Performance and payload

A PMSM motor produces 60 kW of peak power and 220 Nm of torque, good for a 70 km/h top speed and 18% gradeability. It carries a 1,500 kg payload within its 2,510 kg GVW and 1,010 kg kerb weight, in a box body measuring 2,750 mm long, 1,750 mm wide and 1,956 mm tall. The 2.5T rides on a MacPherson independent front and longitudinal leaf spring rear suspension with disc brakes at the front, drum at the rear, ABS and a 4x2 axle configuration.

Who should buy it

The EKA 2.5T suits small fleet owners and businesses running fixed city routes with predictable daily kilometres and overnight charging. The 180 km range and 4-hour AC charge are honest limits; operators planning long highway legs or double shifts should verify the economics with a dealer first. The 3-year vehicle warranty and 6-year battery warranty provide some ownership reassurance.
