The Evage Motors FR8 is a 1-tonne-class fully electric light commercial delivery van built ground-up by Chandigarh/Mohali-based EVage on its proprietary 4-ME modular skateboard EV platform. It is aimed squarely at last-mile and mid-mile logistics — e-commerce, FMCG, courier and pharma delivery fleets.

Battery & Range

A 21.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (48 V) drives the FR8, with a claimed range of up to 100 km per full charge and a published 20-minute full-charge time — targeted at keeping daily urban delivery routes running without long downtime. EVage markets the pack around long-life chemistry and thermal resilience for Indian conditions.

Performance

A Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) produces 18.3 kW (about 24.5 bhp) and 114 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 55 km/h and 12% gradeability. A single-speed clutch-free gearbox with manual-style operation suits city stop-go, and the lightweight modular chassis keeps energy consumption low.

Dimensions & Practicality

Measuring 5,310 mm (L) x 1,740 mm (W) x 2,250 mm (H) on a 2,700 mm wheelbase with 160 mm ground clearance, the FR8 offers a 928 kg payload on a 2,550 kg GVW. The box body with day cabin provides a cargo area of roughly 11,290 litres (about 3.8 m loading length). It rides on 215/75 R15 tyres with disc front and drum rear brakes, ABS, double wishbone front and leaf-spring rear suspension.

Market Position

The FR8 positions EVage as one of the first Indian startups with a ground-up electric 4-wheel delivery van, backed by Amazon India trials and a $28 million seed round from RedBlue Capital. It competes in the electric mini-truck space alongside incumbent light commercial electric offerings, with the trade-off of a young brand and thinner service network versus legacy OEMs.
