The Porsche Taycan is the German marque's first all-electric performance saloon and remains one of the most dynamically capable EVs money can buy in India. It is sold here in three trims - Taycan, Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo - priced from Rs 1.70 crore to Rs 2.70 crore (ex-showroom).
Range & Charging
All three variants use a 93.4 kWh performance battery. The base and 4S carry a claimed range of 705 km, while the Turbo is rated at 683 km. A 150 kW DC fast charger takes the battery from 10-80% in about 33 minutes, and a standard 11 kW AC supply provides a full charge overnight in about 9 hours. Porsche covers the high-voltage battery for 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first.
Performance & Driving
The base and 4S use a single-speed transmission, while the Turbo adds a second gear. The base makes up to 590 bhp, and the range-topping Turbo develops 872 bhp with 650 Nm of torque, sprints from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and tops out at 260 km/h. Six driving modes and adaptive air suspension keep the low-slung body planted.
Features & Practicality
The cockpit leads with a curved digital instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay. Eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control, TPMS, hill hold, a reverse camera, a sunroof and Level-2 driver assistance are standard, and the 446-litre boot and four-door layout make the Taycan genuinely usable for daily motoring.
Who Should Buy It
The Taycan is for buyers who want electric performance with genuine Porsche driving dynamics and a badge to match. If you value acceleration, handling and charging speed over rear-seat space, and can stretch to an entry price north of Rs 1.7 crore, it is the most compelling sports EV in India.
