The Porsche Macan EV is the battery-electric version of Porsche's compact luxury SUV, built on the 800V Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and launched in India in July 2024. It is offered in three variants - Standard, 4S and Turbo - priced from Rs 1.22 crore to Rs 1.73 crore (ex-showroom).
Range and charging
All three variants carry a 100 kWh lithium-ion pack. Porsche claims up to 624 km of range for the Standard and Turbo, with the 4S rated at 619 km. The 800V architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 270 kW, taking the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 21 minutes, while a full 0-100 percent charge on an 11 kW AC charger takes around 10 hours. The battery is covered by an 8-year warranty.
Performance
The Macan EV is all-wheel drive across the range. The Standard produces 402 bhp and 650 Nm, the 4S 509 bhp and 820 Nm, and the Turbo 608 bhp and 1130 Nm. The Turbo sprints from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, the 4S in 4.1 seconds and the Standard in 5.2 seconds, with top speeds of 220, 240 and 260 km/h respectively. Range, Normal, Sport and Sport+ drive modes tune the response.
Dimensions and practicality
At 4784 mm long, 1938 mm wide and 1622 mm tall on a 2893 mm wheelbase, the Macan EV seats five and offers a 540-litre boot with 224 mm of ground clearance. A 10.9-inch infotainment screen, panoramic sunroof (optional), electric tailgate and a connected car app round out the equipment list, and it is offered in 13 exterior colours.
Who should buy it
The Macan EV is for buyers who want Porsche performance and badge credibility without the petrol bill. The Turbo is the driver's pick, while the Standard offers the best range per rupee. Expect the ex-showroom price to be just the start - Porsche's options list can push the final bill well beyond the base figure.
