The Windsor EV's headline strength is its two-battery strategy: a 38 kWh pack good for a certified 332 km (real-world closer to 260 km) at Rs 14.70-17 lakh, and a 52.9 kWh Pro pack rated at 449 km (real-world nearer 360 km) from Rs 17.90-19 lakh. Both share the same 136 PS/200 Nm motor, so the extra spend buys range and DC fast-charging headroom (45kW vs 60kW), not extra performance. For buyers who mostly drive in-city, the base 38 kWh pack is the smarter buy; the Pro pack earns its premium only if regular highway runs are on the cards.

MG's Battery-as-a-Service scheme is the Windsor's real differentiator versus rivals like the Tata Punch EV or Nexon EV: it drops the entry price to roughly Rs 9.99-12.6 lakh by unbundling the battery and charging a per-km rental (about Rs 3.9-4/km) instead. That's attractive for buyers wary of large upfront EV costs, but the economics only work out if annual running is modest -- heavy users are usually better off paying the full Rs 14.70 lakh+ outright price, since the rental adds up quickly over tens of thousands of kilometres.

Cabin space and features punch above the Windsor's price point -- a 15.6-inch touchscreen, panoramic glass roof, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a 135-degree reclining rear seat that make it feel more premium than a compact CUV. Safety is a genuine strong suit at the top of the range: the Essence Pro variant is the only one with full Level 2 ADAS (adaptive cruise, lane keep, AEB), so buyers who want that tech need to budget for the Rs 19 lakh flagship trim rather than assuming it's standard across the lineup.
