Mahindra XUV400 EV

The Mahindra XUV400 was the brand's first born-electric C-segment SUV, and the Pro line-up sold today spans five variants from ₹15.49 lakh to ₹17.69 lakh (ex-showroom). It pairs a 110 kW electric motor — rated around 147 bhp — with either a 34.5 kWh or a 39.4 kWh battery, claiming 375 km and 456 km of range respectively, and offers a genuine family-SUV layout on a 2600 mm wheelbase.

Range and charging

Mahindra claims 375 km on the 34.5 kWh pack and 456 km on the 39.4 kWh pack (MIDC cycle). Real-world range depends on driving style, load and weather — owners report around 300 km in mixed city driving on the larger pack. Charging suits a home-first EV: about 6.5 hours (390 minutes) on the standard AC charger, or roughly 50 minutes on a fast charger via the CCS-II port.

Performance and driving

The 110 kW motor delivers 310 Nm of torque, enough for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint of 8.3 seconds and a 150 km/h top speed. Shift-by-wire automatic transmission, regenerative braking, cruise control and hill hold keep it relaxed to drive, while 200 mm of ground clearance handles broken roads.

Practicality and features

A 378-litre boot, five seats and a 2600 mm wheelbase make it a practical family car. Safety kit includes six airbags on EL variants, ESP, TPMS, ABS with EBD and all-round disc brakes, plus a battery warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km. Infotainment runs on a 7-inch or 10.25-inch screen with Apple CarPlay on higher trims, and five dualtone colours round out the range.

The XUV400 EV is for families who want a roomy, well-equipped electric SUV without paying luxury-brand prices, especially if they can charge at home. If you need a newer platform or faster charging speeds, Mahindra's newer EV models may suit you better.
