Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace is a 5-seater all-electric luxury SUV and Jaguar's first production EV, built on a dedicated EV platform with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout. Launched in India in March 2021 and sold until late 2024, it was one of the first luxury electric SUVs in the market, rivalling the Audi Q8 e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQS and BMW iX.

Price & Variants

At the end of its Indian lifecycle the I-Pace was offered in four trims — S, SE, Black and HSE — priced from Rs 1.06 crore to Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom). The model has now been discontinued and is only available on the used-car market.

Battery & Range

A single 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers two electric motors (one per axle) for a combined 394 bhp and 696 Nm. Jaguar claims an ARAI range of up to 470 km, with the base S variant rated at 470 km and the Black edition at 446 km. A 100 kW CCS2 DC rapid charger takes the battery from 0-80% in about 40 minutes; an 11 kW wallbox fully charges it in around 8.5-12.9 hours.

Performance

The I-Pace dashes from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds (4.36s in instrumented tests), with a top speed of 200 kmph. Low-mounted battery placement gives a 50:50 weight split and low centre of gravity, and the optional air suspension delivers a supple, wafting ride with superb AWD grip.

Dimensions & Practicality

At 4,682 mm long, 2,139 mm wide and 1,566 mm tall on a 2,990 mm wheelbase, the I-Pace is a spacious mid-size crossover with a large 656-litre boot. The cabin features dual touchscreens, a full panoramic glass roof and a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating with six airbags.

Market Position

Positioned as Jaguar's halo EV, the I-Pace faced the Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQS in India, and was praised for explosive performance, usable range and a high-tech bespoke cabin — while owners flagged its fiddly touchscreen controls and premium pricing.
