Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric is Royal Enfield's upcoming electric adventure motorcycle, first shown as the HIM-E concept at EICMA 2023 and refined as the Himalayan Electric Version 2.0 at the 2024 Motoverse in Goa. It carries the rugged Himalayan DNA — upright stance, tall windscreen, long-travel suspension and wire-spoked wheels — into the electric era, and is expected to be the most powerful and most premium Royal Enfield yet.

Price & Variants

Pre-launch expected price is around Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom), estimated by Indian bike aggregators; official pricing is yet to be announced. A single STD variant is expected, with launch likely by late 2026.

Battery & Range

Test prototypes have been reported with a 14 kWh battery pack — larger than any electric motorcycle currently sold in India — with an onboard charger and a left-side charging port. Early spy shots suggest a twin removable battery arrangement. Official range figures are yet to be announced.

Performance

The test prototype reportedly packs a 74.5 kW (about 100 PS) motor built by Stark, with four riding modes: Zen, Off-road, Tour and Rally. It is said to reach 120 km/h easily.

Hardware & Features

Premium underpinnings include Ohlins suspension at both ends, USD front forks, disc brakes front and rear, a rally-style tower, aluminium components, a long single-piece seat and dual-purpose Bridgestone Battalax Adventurecross tyres on 21/17-inch spoked wheels. Prototype test bikes feature a larger digital display with navigation support.

Who Should Buy It

The Himalayan Electric is aimed at adventure-touring enthusiasts who want the Himalayan's go-anywhere character without the engine, and who are willing to pay a premium for a first-generation flagship. The reported 100 PS motor, Ohlins suspension and off-road-focused design make it a compelling proposition for trail riders, but the roughly Rs 7.5 lakh expected price, unconfirmed range and charging details, and a launch only expected by late 2026 mean it is a considered purchase — not an impulse buy.
