Orxa Mantis

The Orxa Mantis is a performance electric sports motorcycle from Bengaluru startup Orxa Energies, the company's first production model. Priced at ₹3.60 lakh (ex-showroom) in a single variant, it targets riders who want genuine sports-bike ability — 27.5 bhp, 93 Nm of torque and a claimed 135 km/h top speed — in an all-electric package, with regional ex-showroom prices of about ₹3.83 lakh in metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Range and charging

A claimed IDC range of 221 km from the 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery puts the Mantis among the longest-range electric motorcycles sold in India. A standard 1.3 kW onboard charger takes about 5 hours for a 0-80% charge, while Orxa's optional 3.3 kW 'Blitz' charger cuts that to roughly 2.5 hours.

Performance and riding

A 20.5 kW liquid-cooled BLDC motor delivers the equivalent of 27.5 bhp and 93 Nm, good for a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. The Mantis rides on a 41 mm telescopic front fork and a hydraulic mono-shock with adjustable preload, with single-channel ABS and regenerative braking as standard.

Features and practicality

The cockpit centres on a 5-inch digital console running Orxa's Linux-based OS, with Bluetooth connectivity, the Orxa companion app and OTA updates. Seat height is 815 mm and ground clearance 180 mm. There are no rider-selectable ride modes and just one colour, Jungle Grey.

Who should buy it

Riders who value straight-line performance and range over a mature dealer network. The battery and motor carry a 3-year/30,000 km warranty, but Orxa is a young start-up, so service reach is narrower than established brands — worth weighing before you commit.
