Quantum BZiness: an electric scooter built for work

The BZiness is Quantum Energy's delivery-focused electric scooter from Hyderabad. It launched in November 2023 at Rs 99,000 and sits below the BZiness XP in the company's line-up. Where most scooters in this price bracket chase features, the BZiness spends its budget on a reinforced chassis, a flat floorboard and parts that survive daily loading and unloading. That is why fleet operators, not just individual buyers, keep it on their shortlists.

Price and variants

The Quantum BZiness starts at Rs 1.005 lakh. Two variants are on sale: the BZiness X and the BZiness XP, with the XP listed around Rs 1.20 lakh ex-showroom. Both share the same body and running gear; the main difference is the battery pack and the range that comes with it. Buyers in Bengaluru can also pick the swappable-battery BZiness XS under Quantum's battery-as-a-service plan with Indofast Energy, which drops the entry price sharply since you subscribe to the battery instead of buying it.

Battery, range and charging

The BZiness X carries a 2.2 kWh portable lithium-ion pack with an IP67 rating and claims 105 km per charge. Step up to the XP and the pack grows to 2.88 kWh with an ARAI-claimed 135 km. The 670 W portable charger takes about four hours twelve minutes for a full charge, or roughly three hours to reach 80 percent. Ride it fully loaded all day and expect the real figure to land below the claim; owners report anything from 80 km upward depending on load and riding mode.

Motor and performance

A 1200 W BLDC hub motor drives the rear wheel, with rated output of 1.5 kW and peak figures near 2 kW on current sheets. Torque is a healthy 112 Nm, enough for a 7-second 0-40 kmph run even with cargo. Top speed is 60 kmph, which keeps the BZiness comfortable on city arterials though it is not built for highways. Gradeability is rated at 12 degrees, and there is a reverse mode that makes parking in tight loading bays far easier than it sounds.

Features and safety

You get LED lighting all round, a digital console, Eco and Sport ride modes, remote start, a USB charger, an anti-theft alarm and underseat storage. Braking comes from 130 mm drums at both ends with CBS; there is no ABS at this price. Suspension is a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels with 90/90-12 tubeless tyres, weighs 104 kg, and its 200 mm ground clearance handles broken urban roads without scraping.

Warranty and ownership

Quantum backs the battery for 5 years or 50,000 km and the vehicle for 3 years or 40,000 km. The company has grown past 100 sales and service touchpoints, and its Maheshwaram plant in Telangana now anchors production as partnerships with RevFin (financing), BijliRide (rentals) and EMO Energy (fast-charging fleets) extend the BZiness into commercial duty across India.
