The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is Toyota's first mass-market electric SUV in India, launched on 29 May 2026. Based on the Maruti e Vitara platform but styled and tuned by Toyota, it is priced from around Rs 23.6 lakh ex-showroom and targets families who want Toyota's reliability and aftersales in a fully electric compact SUV.

Range and charging

Up to 543 km of claimed range. The Ebella is offered with a 49 kWh LFP battery claiming around 440 km and a 61 kWh LFP battery claiming up to 543 km. Toyota's own collated review notes that realistic mixed-use driving should still cover daily commutes comfortably.

6-7 hours AC, about 45-50 minutes DC. A full charge on a 7.4 kW AC charger takes about 6 to 7 hours, while DC fast charging brings the battery from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 45 to 50 minutes.

Performance and driving

Peppy, mature and well-handling. The 61 kWh versions produce around 172 bhp with 193 Nm of torque, and reviews praise the Ebella's handling, mature ride quality and peppy real-world performance. The front-wheel-drive layout keeps the driving experience effortless in the city.

Practicality and features

Five seats and a 306 litre boot. The Ebella measures 4285 mm in length with a 2700 mm wheelbase, seats five and offers a 306 litre boot. Standard equipment includes Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags and an 8-year battery warranty, plus a choice of nine exterior shades including dual-tone roof options.

Who should buy it

Families who want a proven, low-worry EV. If you value Toyota's service network, a long battery warranty and a claimed range of up to 543 km in a compact SUV, the Urban Cruiser Ebella is a strong, available choice. Buyers on a tighter budget or those who want a three-row option should look elsewhere, as the Ebella is a five-seat compact SUV.
