BYD Atto 3

The BYD Atto 3 is a compact electric SUV built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 with the Blade battery, positioned as a feature-rich, premium family EV. Launched in India in November 2022, it is available in three trims priced from Rs 24.99 lakh to Rs 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Atto 3 line-up comprises the Dynamic at Rs 24.99 lakh, the Premium at Rs 30.35 lakh and the Superior at Rs 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Dynamic runs a 49.92 kWh pack, while the Premium and Superior share a larger 60.48 kWh pack, with the top-spec Superior adding Level 2 ADAS.

Range and Charging

ARAI-claimed range is 468 km on the Dynamic and 521 km on the Premium and Superior. AC charging at 7.2 kW through the Type 2 port takes about 8 hours on the Dynamic and 9.5-10 hours on the bigger-pack trims, while an 80 kW DC CCS-2 fast charger tops the battery from 0-80% in 50 minutes.

Performance and Driving

A single 150 kW (201 bhp) front motor delivers 310 Nm of torque, taking the Atto 3 from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds on the Dynamic and 7.3 seconds on the Premium and Superior, with a 160 km/h top speed. Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow drive modes tailor the response.

Features and Practicality

Inside, a 12.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, a 440-litre boot, a sunroof and an electric tailgate feature, backed by seven airbags, ESP, ABS and a 6-year vehicle warranty plus an 8-year or 150,000 km battery warranty. The cabin seats five with a 175 mm ground clearance, and four exterior colours are offered — Boulder Grey, Cosmos Black, Ski White and Surf Blue.
