Geely-owned premium brand Zeekr is preparing a major battery update for its best-selling electric mid-size SUV, the Zeekr 7X.

The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) trim—which previously utilised a 75 kWh pack—is set to receive a larger, next-generation 85 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. The revision elevates the base SUV's WLTP driving range from 480 km to over 530 km, closing the gap with higher-spec long-range trims while retaining rapid 800-volt charging performance.

The highlight of the updated base model is Geely's proprietary Aegis Golden Brick battery architecture:

• Extended Cycle Life: Geely rates the pack for a service life of up to 1 million kilometres and 3,500 charge cycles, significantly exceeding conventional passenger EV warranties and virtually eliminating battery degradation worries for long-term owners.

• Sustained High-Speed DC Charging: Integrated into Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) with native 800V electronics, the system supports DC charging rates up to 450+ kW. A 10% to 80% replenishment takes under 16 minutes on ultra-fast DC public chargers.

• Thermal Safety: The LFP chemistry provides intrinsic fire resistance and thermal runaway containment, tested against extreme penetration, crushing, and submersion benchmarks.

Performance Across the Wider 7X Lineup

While the base RWD variant receives the 85 kWh LFP pack, the rest of the 7X family continues with the larger 100 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery:

• Long Range RWD: Combines the single 310 kW rear motor with the 100 kWh pack, achieving an official WLTP rating of 615 km.

• Performance AWD & Black Edition: Employs dual motors generating 475 kW (637 bhp) and 710 Nm of torque, delivering a 0–100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds alongside an official WLTP range exceeding 540 km.

• Standard 22 kW AC Charging: Every 7X variant includes a high-capacity 22 kW onboard AC charger, allowing home and destination AC wallboxes to fully recharge the battery in under 4 to 5 hours.

The 7X pairs its powertrain efficiency with an upscale interior focused on usability:

• Dual Display Layout: Centers around a crisp 16-inch infotainment display complemented by a massive 36.2-inch Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD) that projects driving information and active navigation onto the windshield.

• Boot and Frunk Storage: Offers 539 litres of boot capacity (expanding to 1,143 litres with rear seats folded down), paired with a convenient 66-litre front trunk (frunk) for charging leads and dirty gear.
