The OSM Stream is a high-speed electric auto rickshaw (L5M passenger carrier) from Omega Seiki Mobility, priced from Rs 3.40 lakh for the 1920/Electric variant up to Rs 3.45 lakh for the 2120/Electric (ex-showroom). It is a 3-wheeler built on a chassis-with-cabin layout with a day cabin, seats D+3 passengers and is aimed at drivers who run daily intra-city passenger routes on a predictable schedule.

Range and charging

The Stream is offered with two lithium-ion battery options on its 48V system. The base 1920/Electric packs 8.5 kWh for an ARAI range of 123 km, while the top 2120/Electric carries 10.8 kWh for a claimed 160 km. Both variants charge fully in around 3 hours on a standard home socket, so overnight or mid-day top-ups suit a daily route rather than fast charging on the go. The cabin has no A/C, keeping range usable in hot Indian summers without the drag of a compressor.

Performance and payload

An electric motor producing 9.55 kW and 430 Nm of torque gives the Stream a 45 km/h top speed and 16% gradeability, enough for city streets and gentle flyover ramps. It runs within a 960 kg GVW with a 600 kg kerb weight, uses drum brakes and a 1-forward/1-reverse automatic gearbox, and rides on 4.50-10 8PR low-rolling-resistance tyres at all three wheels. The compact body measures 2940 mm long, 1475 mm wide and 1808 mm high, with 175 mm ground clearance and a 4200 mm turning radius for tight market lanes. OSM backs it with a 3-year or 80,000 km vehicle warranty.

Who should buy it

The OSM Stream suits auto-rickshaw drivers moving passengers within a city on a daily loop, where the 123-160 km range and 3-hour charge time are honest daily limits. At its Rs 3.40-3.45 lakh price it competes with petrol autos on running cost, but buyers should confirm OSM dealer and service coverage in their city before committing, as the network is thinner than Bajaj or Mahindra outside metros.
