The Mercury Limosa is a battery-electric auto-rickshaw from Mercury EV Tech, built as an L5M high-speed passenger carrier. It seats a driver plus three passengers (D+3) in a fully-built, day-cabin layout on a chassis-with-cabin frame, and it is aimed at city passenger duty, shared mobility, and last-mile passenger runs. Mercury EV Tech has not published an ex-showroom price, so it is quoted on request through dealers; it competes with the Mahindra Treo, Piaggio Ape E City and Bajaj RE in the electric three-wheeler segment.

Range and charging

The Limosa runs on a 12.16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (60.8 V, 200 Ah) built in-house at Mercury EV Tech's Vadodara plant. TrucksDekho quotes a claimed range of 200 km on a full charge, while Mercury EV Tech's own product page lists up to 250 km; a full charge takes 4-5 hours from a standard socket. There is no DC fast-charging option, so operators typically charge overnight or between shifts.

Performance and payload

A 7.78 kW PMSM motor drives the Limosa to a top speed of 60-80 km/h with 10.2% gradeability, backed by a hydraulic drum brake, helical-spring front suspension and a hydraulic telescopic rear with rubber damper. It carries up to 350 kg of payload within a 1,050 kg gross vehicle weight and a 523 kg kerb weight. The body measures 2,610 mm long, 1,365 mm wide and 1,805 mm high on a 1,923 mm wheelbase with 175 mm of ground clearance, riding on three 4.5-10 8PR tube tyres with handle-bar steering and a driver information display.

Who should buy it

The Limosa suits auto-rickshaw operators and small fleets running urban passenger trips where low per-kilometre running cost matters more than speed. The 200-250 km claimed range and 4-5 hour charge time cover a full day of city duty on an overnight charge, and the 3-year battery warranty backs the pack. Buyers should confirm real-world range under load and the dealer network in their city before committing, since price and colour options are finalised only at the dealership.
