The Mahindra UDO is an electric passenger auto rickshaw from Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, built on a first-in-segment monocoque body that the brand calls the “Autoplane”. Priced at Rs 3.79 lakh ex-showroom, it targets city auto drivers and small fleet owners who want a long-range, low-running-cost alternative to a petrol three-wheeler. The UDO carries a 11.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a D+3 seating layout and a 759 kg gross vehicle weight, and it arrives with one of the segment’s strongest warranties.

Range and charging

The 11.7 kWh battery delivers an ARAI certified range of 265 km, with a real-world range of around 200 km in typical city duty. A full charge from a standard wall outlet takes 5 hours 15 minutes, so an overnight top-up is enough for a full working day of trips. The UDO supports three driving modes — Range, Ride and Race — that trade efficiency for performance, and it adds segment-first Creep Mode for crawling in traffic and Reverse Throttle for controlled reversing without the foot brake.

Performance and payload

A permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 10 kW (13.4 hp) peak power and 52 Nm of torque, taking the UDO to a top speed of 55 km/h in Race Mode. The 759 kg gross vehicle weight and a 2,100 mm wheelbase keep the ride stable, while 215 mm of ground clearance, dual-fork front suspension and an independent rear suspension handle speed breakers and potholes. Hill Hold prevents rollback on inclines, and drum brakes on both axles deliver short stopping distances. Gradeability is rated at 25 per cent.

Who should buy it

The UDO suits owner-drivers and small fleets running daily passenger routes who can charge overnight and value a premium, comfortable cabin over the cheapest entry price. Mahindra backs it with a 6-year or 1.5 lakh km warranty, free service up to 1 lakh km and Rs 20 lakh accidental insurance under the Uday NXT program, and its 800-plus touchpoints across India keep service within reach. Buyers doing back-to-back shifts should confirm charging access before committing, as there is no fast-charge option listed for the single battery pack.
