Range and charging

An 80 Ah lithium-ion battery pack at 48 V (about 3.84 kWh) powers the GEM, with a claimed range of 120 km on a full charge at its 25 km/h top speed. Charging takes 4-6 hours from a standard domestic socket, which fits an overnight-charge routine for a single-shift carrier rather than opportunistic top-ups; fast charging is not available on this low-speed class.

A 1 hp electric motor drives the three-wheeler with 20% gradeability and an automatic 1-forward/1-reverse gearbox. The GEM carries a 600 kg gross vehicle weight with drum brakes, MacPherson strut front suspension and leaf springs at the rear.
