Quantum Energy Plasma: affordable mid-speed electric scooter for daily city commutes
The Quantum Energy Plasma is Quantum Energy's mid-speed electric scooter built for everyday urban riding. It uses a 1500 W BLDC hub motor paired with a removable lithium-ion battery, returns an ARAI-claimed range of up to 120 km per charge depending on the variant, and tops out at 60-65 km/h - numbers aimed squarely at office-goers, students and delivery riders who mostly stay inside the city.
Variants and pricing
Plasma is sold in three variants. The entry Plasma XR (Rs 89,095 ex-showroom) carries a 2.18 kWh portable battery good for a claimed 100 km. The Plasma X (Rs 99,999) steps up to a 3 kWh fixed battery, a 65 km/h top speed and a claimed 120 km range. The range-topping Plasma STD (Rs 1,24,573) pairs the larger equipment list with a 2.18 kWh pack and a claimed 110 km. On-road, the Plasma starts at roughly Rs 93,000 in most Indian metros.
Motor, battery and charging
The hub motor makes 1.5 kW rated power (about 2.3 kW peak) with 12-degree gradeability, and a reverse mode makes parking-lot manoeuvres easy. Charging runs through a portable 670 W charger: the XR's 2.18 kWh pack goes from 0-80 percent in around 3.12 hours and 0-100 percent in about 4 hours, while the X's bigger 3 kWh fixed pack needs close to 6 hours for a full charge. The battery carries an IP67 rating.
Features
The digital instrument cluster brings Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, plus live charging status, distance-to-empty and last-park-location tracking through the companion app. Riders get three modes (Eco and Sport among them) with reverse assist and regenerative braking.
An LED headlamp with DRLs lights the way, and there is a USB charging port up front. Suspension is a telescopic fork up front with dual rear shock absorbers behind, while braking is handled by 130 mm drum brakes on both wheels running a combined braking system (CBS).
Should you buy one?
If your daily run is under 80 km and top speed beyond 60 km/h rarely matters, the Plasma undercuts most branded rivals on price while still giving you a removable battery, app connectivity and a 3-year/30,000 km battery warranty. Buyers wanting faster charging or more performance should look at the Plasma X variant or higher-powered scooters elsewhere.
