Gravton Quanta: Built For Hard Daily Use

The Gravton Quanta is a made-in-India electric two-wheeler from Hyderabad-based Gravton Motors, engineered around a rib-caged chassis and 17-inch alloy wheels for rough roads and heavy loads. It sells in two variants: the Quanta S (3 kW motor, 2.78 kWh battery, 125 km range) and the Quanta S+ (4 kW motor, 3.8 kWh battery, 165 km range). Both top out at 75 km/h.

Battery And Charging

Both variants use an LMFP battery pack, a chemistry Gravton positions as fire-resistant and leak-proof for Indian weather. The S charges from 20 to 90 percent in about 3 hours, the S+ in about 3.46 hours, and a full 0 to 100 percent charge takes 5.4 hours on either. Battery and motor both carry a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty, and the GOTAC app adds live tracking, geo-fencing and remote immobilisation with one year of free subscription.

Performance And Practicality

The in-wheel BLDC hub motor makes 172 Nm at the wheel with a 33 percent gradability rating, and three riding modes cap speed at 40 (Eco), 55 (Power) and 75 km/h (Sport). Gross vehicle weight runs 267 kg on the S and 273 kg on the S+, which is the number that matters for delivery use. Braking is dual disc with CBS, suspension is telescopic up front with dual springs at the rear, and lighting is all-LED with a digital console.

Price And Verdict

Ex-showroom prices are Rs 1,19,999 for the S and Rs 1,35,749 for the S+, with Hyderabad on-road figures of Rs 1,34,198 and Rs 1,50,441 shared by the company. Showrooms currently cover Malakpet and AS Rao Nagar in Hyderabad plus Agra, Madurai, Karimnagar and Huzurabad. If your priority is load-lugging range per rupee with minimal electronics to go wrong, the Quanta belongs on the shortlist next to the Vida and River offerings, but check service coverage in your city first.
