The Ather Rizta is Ather Energy's family-focused electric scooter, built around practicality rather than outright performance. Priced between Rs 1.21 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom) across the S and Z trims, it pairs a 4.3 kW PMSM hub motor with a choice of 2.9 kWh or 3.7 kWh battery packs.
Range and Charging
The Rizta delivers claimed IDC ranges of 123 km on the 2.9 kWh pack and 161 km on the 3.7 kWh pack, with a common 80 km/h top speed. On a standard home charger, the smaller pack reaches 0-80% in about 6 hours, while the 3.7 kWh pack does the same in about 3 hours 12 minutes. For longer rides, the scooter taps into Ather Grid, Ather's public fast-charging network, for top-ups.
Performance and Riding
All four variants share the same drivetrain — a 4.3 kW (5.8 bhp) motor, 22 Nm of torque and an 80 km/h top speed — so the extra spend on the Z buys software and convenience, not speed. Three ride modes (Zip, Eco and SmartEco) with coasting regenerative braking help manage energy use, and CBS braking with a 200 mm disc up front and a 130 mm drum at the rear keeps stops controlled. A telescopic front fork and rear monoshock on a 125 kg kerb-weight scooter keep the ride settled over broken city roads.
Practicality and Features
The Rizta's party trick is space: a 34-litre under-seat boot, a long dual-tone seat with a pillion backrest and 150 mm of ground clearance make it a genuinely usable two-up runabout. The S trim runs a 7-inch DeepView LCD, while the Z upgrades to a 7-inch TFT touchscreen with Google Maps navigation and the fuller Ather Connect app suite over Bluetooth and 4G LTE. Six colours are offered: Siachen White, Deccan Grey, Pangong Blue, Terracotta Red, Alphonso Yellow and Cardamom Green.
Who should buy it
The Ather Rizta suits households that want one dependable, low-stress daily EV — school runs, groceries and commutes — rather than an enthusiast machine. Both trims carry a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty on the vehicle and battery. If connected navigation matters, budget for the Z; if you mainly want an EV that just works, the S delivers most of the value.
