The Ather 450X is Ather Energy's flagship performance electric scooter, built for riders who want more than a basic commuter. It pairs a 6.4 kW (8.6 bhp) PMSM hub motor with a 2.9 kWh Li-ion battery, and in India it is priced between roughly ₹1.55 lakh and ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom) across eight variants.
Range and battery
A single 2.9 kWh Li-ion pack delivers a claimed IDC range of 126 km on the standard 450X variants and up to 161 km on the 450X IDC 161 km variants. Real-world range trails the IDC claim depending on riding style, speed and terrain. The battery carries a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
Performance and driving
The 26 Nm motor pushes the scooter to a top speed of 90 km/h, with regenerative braking and cruise control to smooth out longer rides. Ride quality is firm and sporty rather than plush, and at 108 kg kerb weight the 450X feels agile in traffic. Telescopic forks up front and a symmetrically mounted progressive monoshock handle suspension, with disc brakes at both ends.
Charging
A full charge takes about 270 minutes (4.5 hours) on the standard 700 W charger, and DC fast charging brings the pack to 80% in around 180 minutes (3 hours). There is no separate 10-80% figure published on the vehicle; the fast-charge time is stated as the time to 80%.
Features and practicality
A 7-inch TFT touchscreen runs Google Maps navigation and over-the-air updates over a Snapdragon 212 processor, with Bluetooth connectivity. Practicality has limits: underseat storage shrinks once the portable charger is stowed, and connected features like Google Maps and AutoHold require a separate Pro Pack subscription.
Who should buy it
The 450X suits tech-forward riders who want a fast, well-connected electric scooter for daily city riding and occasional longer runs, and who are willing to trade some underseat space for performance. It is a premium pick rather than a budget commuter; buyers prioritising price over pace will find cheaper options in the wider scooter market.
