The VinFast VF 6 is a premium compact electric SUV that brings Vietnamese car-maker VinFast's global architecture to India. Sold here since September 2025 and now available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 17.29 lakh to Rs 19.19 lakh, the VF 6 competes with the Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor and Mahindra BE6 in India's fast-growing mid-size EV market.
Battery, range and charging
All three trims of the VinFast VF 6 — Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity — run a 59.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. ARAI range is 463-468 km, while VinFast quotes up to 410 km on the stricter WLTP cycle. DC fast charging takes the pack from 10 to 70 percent in about 25 minutes, and a full 0-100% AC charge at 7.2 kW is around 8 hours.
Performance and driving
The base Earth trim makes 130 kW (174.33 bhp) and 250 Nm, while the Wind and Wind Infinity trims step up to 150 kW (201.15 bhp) with 310 Nm. Top speed is 175 km/h; the base does 0-100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and the higher trims in 8.9 seconds. A 190 mm ground clearance and 18-inch wheels are tuned for Indian road conditions.
Features, safety and practicality
The VF 6 comes with Level 2 ADAS, a 12.9-inch centre touchscreen, 7 airbags and a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating from January 2026. The five-seat cabin offers 423 litres of boot space; Wind trims add a fixed glass sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera. VinFast covers the battery for 10 years or 200,000 km and the vehicle for 7 years.
Who should buy it
The VF 6 suits families and long-distance commuters who want a high-safety, well-equipped compact SUV with strong claimed range and quick DC charging. It is a less obvious choice if fast-charging infrastructure near you is thin or if you prioritise an established service network.
