India's cheapest way into a Tata EV: at Rs 6.99 lakh ex-showroom, the Tiago EV Smart 19 undercuts nearly every other electric car sold in India, and the value case only gets stronger once you look at what is standard — 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, i-TPMS and ISOFIX anchors are fitted across the range, not locked to the top trim. The trade-off is real: the base 19.2 kWh pack's 226 km ARAI range works out to roughly 160-180 km in everyday city driving with the AC on, enough for a daily commute but leaving little buffer for longer weekend runs. Buyers who can stretch to the Pure+ 24 or Creative+ 24 get the 24 kWh pack's 285 km ARAI figure and a genuinely useful jump in real-world range, plus a lifetime warranty on that bigger battery pack, which meaningfully changes the long-term ownership math versus the shorter cover typical of rival EVs.

Charging is the Tiago EV's strongest practical argument: both battery packs accept 30 kW DC fast charging and can go from 10-80% in about 35 minutes, quick enough for a top-up during a highway food stop. At home, a 7.2 kW AC wallbox takes the 19.2 kWh pack from 10-100% in roughly 2.6 hours and the 24 kWh pack in about 3.6 hours, both very manageable overnight charging windows. The catch is that the standard-fit charger on the base trim is the slower 3.3 kW unit, which stretches those same charges to nearly 7-9 hours — buyers who don't opt for the faster AC charger should plan around overnight charging rather than a quick top-up at home.

A hatchback-first EV, not a tech showcase: the Tiago EV's cabin experience is deliberately kept simple on lower trims and only becomes genuinely feature-rich on the Creative+ 24, the only variant with the 26.03 cm Ultra View touchscreen, a 360-degree camera and a 6-way adjustable driver seat, while Smart and Pure+ trims stick to a more basic digital cluster and, from Pure+ upward, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This tiering means shoppers comparing trims on price alone should look closely at what's actually included — the jump from Smart 19 to Pure+ 19 buys touchscreen infotainment and rear power windows without any change in range or performance, since both share the same 19.2 kWh pack, 45 kW motor and 110 Nm of torque.
