VariantsThe Hyundai Creta Electric is the battery-electric version of India's best-selling midsize SUV, sharing the familiar 4,340 mm body and 2,610 mm wheelbase while swapping the engine for an electric powertrain. It is offered with two packs — a 42 kWh battery rated at 420 km of range and a 51.4 kWh Long Range (LR) pack rated at 510 km — priced from Rs 18.02 lakh to Rs 24.55 lakh (ex-showroom).
Range and charging
The 42 kWh pack makes 135 bhp, while the 51.4 kWh LR makes 171 bhp, both delivering 255 Nm of torque with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds. Both packs DC fast charge from 10-80% in about 39 minutes on a CCS2 charger, and the 7.4 kW AC charger refills a pack from 10-100% in around 6 hours — easy overnight homework. A 22-litre front trunk is a welcome extra.
Performance and practicality
Three drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) plus adjustable, ADAS-linked regenerative braking let you tune the driving character. Boot space holds at 433 litres, ground clearance is 190 mm, and it seats five with the practicality that made the Creta a family favourite. A single-speed transmission and front-wheel drive keep the package simple.
Features and safety
Range-topping trims add Level 2 ADAS, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof and the Bluelink connected-car app. Six airbags, ESC and TPMS come as standard safety kit. The deep trim ladder — Executive through Excellence, each with LR and standard pack options — means checking exactly which variant you are buying matters.
Who should buy it
The Creta Electric is for a family looking to switch to electric without giving up SUV practicality, dealer reach and up to 510 km of claimed range. It is front-wheel drive only, so if you need all-wheel drive or an off-road bias, look elsewhere — but for city and highway duty it is a strong, familiar package.
