Atto 2

The BYD Atto 2 is an upcoming compact electric SUV for India, positioned as a feature-heavy five-seater that will take on the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti e Vitara. Expected to launch around December 2026, it is priced at an estimated ₹18 lakh to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Range and charging

Two battery options are on offer. The Active uses a 45.1 kWh pack with a claimed 312 km range, while the Boost steps up to a 51.1 kWh pack with a claimed 410 km. Real-world range will be lower than these claims depending on driving style, air-conditioning use and traffic. The Active takes 5 hours 42 minutes for a 0-100% AC charge (11 kW) and 30-80% in 28 minutes on a 65 kW DC fast charger; the Boost takes about 7 hours 12 minutes on AC and 30 minutes for 30-80% DC.

Performance and driving

Both variants share a 176 bhp front-wheel-drive motor with 290 Nm of torque, good for a claimed 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a 160 km/h top speed. A 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and regenerative braking come as standard.

Practicality and features

The Atto 2 seats five with a 400-litre boot, 17-inch wheels and a 2620 mm wheelbase. Safety and comfort kit includes six airbags, Level 2 ADAS (expected), a 360-degree camera and a panoramic sunroof. It is offered in Ski White and Cosmos Black.

Who should buy it

The Atto 2 suits urban and intercity buyers who want a well-equipped compact electric SUV with fast DC charging and a modern cabin at a ₹18-25 lakh budget.
