The TVS King EV Max is a fully built, electric passenger auto rickshaw from TVS Motor Company, priced from Rs 3.28 lakh (ex-showroom). It is an L3M low-speed passenger carrier with a day cabin and chassis-with-cabin construction, built to replace the legacy King range with a 179 km certified range, a 51.2 V lithium-ion LFP battery and three drive modes. It is aimed at city auto operators and small passenger fleets that run fixed urban routes.
Range and charging
A 9.2 kWh LFP battery pack powers the King EV Max, delivering a certified range of 179 km on a full charge. Charging from 0-80 per cent takes 2 hours 15 minutes and a full charge takes 3 hours 30 minutes on the supplied 3 kW portable off-board charger, which suits overnight or lunch-shift top-ups on a daily operating cycle.
Performance and features
A PMSM motor produces 11 kW of power and 40 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 60 km/h (Eco mode 40 km/h, City 50 km/h, Power 60 km/h) and 31 per cent gradeability. Acceleration from 0-30 km/h takes 3.7 seconds, and the vehicle can wade through 500 mm of water. The cabin seats a driver plus three passengers, with a 457 kg kerb weight, 185 mm ground clearance, drum brakes with regenerative braking, hill hold assist, SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, USB charging and a tumble seat for extra luggage space.
Who should buy it
The TVS King EV Max suits auto drivers and small fleet operators upgrading from a petrol or CNG King, offering a 6-year/150,000 km battery warranty with roadside assistance and free maintenance for three years. The 60 km/h top speed and 179 km range are realistic for city passenger duty; operators running longer inter-city trips should check charging stops and state subsidies before committing.
