Greaves Eltra City Xtra

The Greaves Eltra City Xtra is a high-speed electric passenger auto-rickshaw from Greaves Electric Mobility, priced from Rs 3.57 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the range-focused upgrade of the Eltra City, built around a 10.8 kWh LFP battery that Greaves quotes at up to 170 km of real-world range and a 6.2-inch smart cluster with turn-by-turn navigation. Greaves backs the claim with an India Book of Records entry for covering 324 km on a single charge between its Bengaluru R&D centre and the Ranipet EV Megasite.

Range and charging

The Eltra City Xtra runs on a 10.8 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery rated at 51.2 V, with an optimised battery management system. Greaves quotes an improved real-world range of up to 170 km per charge and a national record of 324 km achieved under test conditions. A full charge takes roughly 4 to 5 hours from the supplied 2 kW charger on a standard AC socket; there is no DC fast-charging option, so the vehicle is best charged overnight or between shifts. Regenerative braking and a Distance-to-Empty readout help drivers plan longer city routes.

Performance and payload

A 9.6 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor delivers 49 Nm of torque, good for a 60 km/h top speed in Power Mode and a 12-degree gradeability, with Hill Hold Assist for inclined starts. The Xtra seats a driver plus three passengers (D+3) and is built on a chassis-with-cabin layout with a 180 mm hydraulic drum brake at the front and rear, reinforced side panels and a rear visual barrier. It measures 2855 mm long, 1310 mm wide and 1780 mm high on a 1910 mm wheelbase with 175 mm of ground clearance, and rolls on 120/80 R12 tyres.
