EKA 6S

The EKA 6S is a six-seater electric auto-rickshaw (L5M high-speed passenger carrier) from EKA Mobility, priced from Rs 6.00 lakh (ex-showroom; around Rs 6.50 lakh on-road). It is a fully built, three-wheel passenger carrier on a ladder chassis with a D+6 seating layout, aimed at city and last-mile passenger operations.

Range and charging

A 16.1 kWh lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) battery pack at 51.2 V powers the 6S, with a claimed range of up to 175 km on a single charge. Full charging takes about 3 hours 15 minutes; an 80% charge takes under 3 hours. Two charging routes are supported: single-phase AC home charging at 3-pin 16 amp takes about 5 hours, while DC fast charging on a Type 6 socket brings it to full in around 2 hours, which keeps the vehicle available through quick midday top-ups.

Performance and payload

A 12 kW motor (10 kW peak) produces 65 Nm of torque, good for a 50 km/h top speed and 21% gradeability. The 6S carries six passengers (D+6) within a 1,340 kg GVW, riding on 120/80 R12 tubeless tyres with a 4,500 mm turning radius. Front disc and rear drum brakes, dual helical spring front suspension with damper, shock absorber with torsion bar rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, and a digital TFT instrument cluster round out the package. The metal body and ladder-frame chassis are built for daily commercial use.
