Hero Electric Photon HX

The Hero Electric Photon HX was a budget electric scooter sold in India before Hero Electric's FAME-II wind-down. With a claimed 108 km range, a 1.87 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 1.8 kW motor, it was positioned squarely at first-time EV buyers and light city commuters.

Hero claimed 108 km per charge from the 1.87 kWh pack. At a 45 km/h top speed in real traffic, expect that figure to be optimistic — shorter, flatter, slower rides will come closest to it. A full charge takes around 300 minutes (five hours), and the listing does not indicate fast-charge support.

Performance and driving

A 1.8 kW motor with a 45 km/h top speed makes the Photon HX a strictly in-town machine. It is adequate for short commutes, errands and first-time riders, but it is not built for fast roads. At 87 kg kerb weight it is light and easy to handle, with 140 mm of ground clearance for everyday Indian roads.

Practicality

Two variants were offered: the Photon HX STD at ₹0.79 lakh and the Photon HX LX at ₹0.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Colour choices were Black and Brown, and both variants carried the same 108 km range and 1.8 kW motor.

Who should buy it

The Photon HX was for a budget buyer wanting the lowest-cost electric mobility. Today it is discontinued, so new availability is limited to leftover dealer stock or the used market. If you are shopping new in 2026, look at current FAME-era scooters instead; if a used one fits your budget and your commute is short, it remains a simple, cheap way to go electric.
