Hero Electric Optima CX

The Hero Electric Optima CX is the budget electric scooter that carried Hero Electric through the FAME-II era, sold in three trims — the base Optima CX, the Optima CX 2.0 and the Optima CX 5.0 — priced from ₹0.67 lakh to ₹1.04 lakh (ex-showroom). It is no longer in production: Hero Electric wound the model down after its FAME-II incentive period ended, so today it is best approached as a used-market buy.

Range and charging

Every Optima CX variant pairs a 3.0 kWh battery with a claimed range of 135 km on a full charge. A 1.2 kW motor and a 102 kg kerb weight keep it light and efficient in the city, though real-world riding will land below the claim. The standard charger takes about 6.5 hours (390 minutes) for a full battery, so this is an overnight-charging scooter — fast charging is not listed.

Performance and ride

A 1.2 kW hub motor takes the Optima CX to a top speed of 48 km/h, which is squarely a city-commuter figure rather than an expressway one. Ground clearance of 165 mm helps it deal with speed breakers and rough patches, and the light kerb weight makes it easy to manoeuvre in traffic and to park.

Practicality and ownership

The Optima CX was offered in four colours — Blue, Grey, White and Maroon. Because it is discontinued, availability is limited to the used market, and Hero Electric's service footprint varies by region, so buyers should confirm local parts and service access before committing.

Who should buy it

The Optima CX suits a buyer who wants a low-cost, low-speed urban runabout at used-market prices and does not depend on fast charging. If you need a higher top speed, quick charging or a warranty-backed new scooter, a current electric scooter is the better choice.
