The Hero Electric NYX is a discontinued budget electric scooter that was sold in India in two variants, the E5 and the HS500 ER, priced from ₹0.74 lakh to ₹0.87 lakh (ex-showroom). It was built for affordable city commuting, with a claimed 138 km range, and left the market as Hero Electric wound down its FAME-II-era range.

Range and charging

Both NYX variants share a 3.8 kWh battery with a claimed range of 138 km. Real-world range will be lower, depending on rider weight, throttle use and terrain — the figure was never independently verified. A full charge takes about 270 minutes (4.5 hours), and there is no fast-charging or battery-swap support, so plan charging around overnight top-ups at home rather than quick stops on the move.

Performance and practicality

A 1300 W motor drives the NYX to a 42 km/h top speed, which suits city traffic rather than highways. At 87 kg kerb weight with 141 mm of ground clearance, it is light, nimble and easy to manage for daily errands and short commutes. It was offered in Silver and Black, and the two variants differ mainly in price. A 141 mm ground clearance keeps it manageable over city speed bumps, and the light kerb weight makes parking and filtering through traffic effortless.

Who should buy it

The NYX suited budget-conscious city riders who wanted low running costs and a simple, lightweight scooter.
