The Ampere Magnus EX is an entry-level electric commuter scooter from Greaves-owned Ampere Electric, positioned for family and daily city use. Built around a removable Li-ion battery and a hub motor, it offers an affordable alternative to petrol scooters with low running costs and a claimed ARAI range of 80-100 km per charge.
Price & Variants
Priced from Rs 45,099 to Rs 84,900 (ex-showroom) across four variants - Magnus EX Li, 60, Pro and STD. The top-spec STD carries the 2.3 kWh battery and 50 km/h top speed, while the Li and 60 are entry trims limited to 25 km/h. The model was discontinued in March 2026 and succeeded by the Magnus Neo.
Battery & Range
The STD is powered by a removable 2.3 kWh Li-ion pack claiming 80-100 km per charge. In real-world Eco mode tests it covered around 83 km, with owners reporting 75-84 km depending on riding style. Charging takes about 5 hours on a standard home charger for the STD, and 5-6 hours for the Pro and 60 variants.
Performance & Ride
A BLDC hub motor producing 2.1 kW (STD) drives the rear wheel, with a claimed 50 km/h top speed and 0-40 km/h in about 10 seconds. Two riding modes (High/Low) plus reverse assist and a Limp Home function cover the last 10 km at 10% battery. The soft suspension with limited travel has been flagged as its weakest point on rough Indian roads.
Features & Safety
Standard kit includes a Combi Brake System with drum brakes, a side-stand sensor, LED headlights, a digital instrument cluster with estimated range readout, a 22-litre underseat storage with boot light, and a 3-year / 30,000 km battery and vehicle warranty. There is no ABS or fast charging at this price point.
